Full question
Please can you advise if the Blackberry And Apple Kuchen can be frozen?
Our answer
Nigella's Apple And Blackberry Kuchen (from Nigella Bites) is an enriched, yeasted dough that is topped with a mixture of fruit and a crumble topping. It is really at its best on the day it is made, though leftovers can be stored in the fridge for a day or so. We would not suggest making and freezing the kuchen for a special occasion. If you want to make it ahead, prepare the dough and let it rise overnight then stretch it out to fit the pan and continue with the recipe the next morning.
You may be able to freeze leftovers (rather than letting them spoil) in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Put pieces of baking parchment (parchment paper) in between any layers. Individual slices should thaw at room temperature in 1-2 hours. However it is likely that some juices from the fruit will seep out as the kuchen thaws and these could make the crumb topping turn soggy.
