Chilli Jam as Christmas Presents

Nigella's Chiili Jam (from Christmas and on the Nigella website) is popular as a Christmas present and can be kept for up to 1 year if stored unopened in a cool, dark place. Once the jam has been opened it should be kept in the fridge and consumed within one month.

You should be sure that the jars (and lids) are sterilized properly before the Chilli Jam is put into the jars. Nigella considers a jar that is fresh from the dishwasher and has not had so much as a finger inside it as a sterilized one. Alternatively you can wash the jars in hot sopy water, rinsing them well with hot water and then letting them dry fully in a cool (130c/275F) oven. Warm jam should always be put into warm jars.
