Cornflour In Maple Cheesecake

Asked by BeattieVie. Answered on 16th November 2020

Full question

I only find cornstarch at local stores. Can I use that instead of corn flour? Or any other flour type to substitute corn flour if I couldn't find it in stores here? Thanks in advance.

Our answer

Nigella's Gleaming Maple Cheesecake (from NIGELLA CHRISTMAS) is an Autumnal recipe that is November 2020's Cookalong Recipe. It is also a good addition to a Thanksgiving dessert table.

The cheesecake is a baked cheesecake and cornflour is added as it helps to stabilise the eggs in the cheesecake batter and also helps the cheesecake to set as it cooks. In the US cornstarch is the same as UK cornflour and should be used for the cheesecake. Also if you slide the "metric-cups" toggle button on the top right hand of the ingredients list to the right you will see the US measurements and ingredients, which may help in the future.
