Can I make the Easy Sticky Toffee pudding in a "loaf" cake tin, or a ceramic dish? I don't have a pudding basin.
Our answer
Nigella's Easy Sticky Toffee Pudding (from NIGELLA BITES) is a self-saucing pudding where the hot water and sugar poured over the top of the sponge batter transforms in the oven into a rich sauce underneath the cooked sponge. Nigella makes this in a 1.5 litre/6 cups capacity pudding dish. This dish is not a pudding basin (the type used for a steamed sponge or a Christmas pudding) but a baking dish, which can be ceramic, Pyrex or made from other heatproof materials.
A dish of this size will be approximately 20cm (8-inch) square, though a 22-23cm (9-inch) square dish would work too. A rectangular dish of approximately 28 x 18cm (11 x 7 inches) would also be suitable. All of these dishes should have a depth of approximately 5cm (2 inches).
