Full question
When do you peel the garlic and prawns in the Roast Seafood? Do people eat with their fingers?
Our answer
Nigella's Roast Seafood (from KITCHEN) is a luxurious mixture of whole prawns (shrimp), clams in their shells and squid. The seafood is roasted on a bed of potates and onions, which means that all it needs to go alongside is a crisp green salad. The garlic cloves are roasted unpeeled so that they can be removed whole. They should be soft and sightly caramelized and the sweet garlic paste can be squeezed out onto the side of each guests plate using a fork or fingers.
Nigella suggests serving the Roast Seafood direct from the roasting pan. This would mean that guests will need to peel the prawns themselves and also scoop the clams from their opened shells. A fork is the best implement for the clams and to eat the other parts of the dish, but it is definitley easiest to peel the prawns using fingers. We would also suggest giving your guests some bowls for the discarded shells and garlic skin, plus plenty of napkins and maybe some finger bowls or wet wipes to clean hands with afterwards.
