Full question
I own the Swedish edition of Nigella's Feast. In the recipe for the Chocolate Malteser Cake, it only says "2 bags of Maltesers." It might be a big difference to the recipe whether I am using two 195g bags or two 37g bags. Approximately how much is it supposed to be in grams? (Since I love them, I'll happily buy a bigger bag than intended and finish whatever is not used.)
Our answer
Nigella's Chocolate Malteser Cake appears in the Chocolate Cake Hall Of Fame in FEAST and is a sponge cake that is flavoured with malted milk powder, iced with a chocolate malt flavoured buttercream and decorated with Maltesers (chocolate malt balls).
The Maltesers are for decoration on the top of the cake and in the UK edition of the book it suggests two 37g packets of Maltesers, a total of 74g. This is enough to put a ring of Maltesers around the top edge of the cake. However Nigella notes in the recipe that you can decorate the top of the cake with Maltesers in whichever way pleases you, so certainly feel free to buy a larger bag and decorate more lavishly.
