Nigella is the western name for them but you may also find them labelled under the Indian name of kalonji and in some other places as charnushka. You can usually find them on-line or you may also find them in Asian food stores. If you can't find nigella seeds then black onion seeds would be the closest alternative, but the flavour is not the same.
