Nutella Brownies
Asked by Mo Tulloch. Answered on 17th October 2015
Full question
I made the Nutella Brownies from Simply Nigella. I baked it for 20 mins as stated in the recipe, but it was still very gooey inside. I put it in the fridge for a few hours and it was better. Managed to cut it, making a mess but it didn't have that lovely top layer as in the picture. It tasted heavenly. I want to make it again but don't want it as gooey. Any ideas how to improve on my attempt?
Our answer
Nigella's Nutella Brownies (from Simply Nigella) are easy to make (with only 2 ingredients plus a pinch of salt), gluten free and divine to eat. When baked, they should look dull on the surface and have formed a very thin crust, or skin, on top. They should be just set inside and will continue to set as they cool.
As the baking time is quite short then it is important that the oven is fully preheated before the brownies are baked. As they are quick to mix, it is best to start preheating the oven slightly in advance of making the brownies so that it is fully up to temperature once the batter is ready. Ovens vary but some can take up to 20 minutes to properly heat up. Also make sure that the brownies are on the centre shelf in the oven, or slightly above, as lower shelves can have cooler temperatures.
