Salted Chocolate Tart Base

Full question
For the base of the Salted Chocolate Tart should I include the Oreo biscuit cream filling when I crumble them, or just the biscuity bits?
Our answer
Nigella's Salted Chocolate Tart has a base made from Oreo cookies (or a similar chocolate sandwich cookie) that are crushed and mixed with dark (bittersweet) chocolate chips and butter.
You do include the creme filling when making the base as this helps to bind the mixture. It is easiest to crush the cookies in a food processor however if you don't have one then crush the cookies to crumbs in a strong sealed plastic bag using a rolling pin or heavy basd saucepan. If making the base by hand then you may find it easier to crush the cookies in batches and also to melt the butter before mixing it in.
