Full question
I would like to serve a chocolate sauce with the Chocolate Guinness Cake. Does Nigella have any good recipes please?
Our answer
Nigella's Chocolate Guinnes Cake (from FEAST) is a dark, moist chocolate cake that has a slightly ferrous note to it that comes from the stout. As it is not quite as sweet as a regular chocolate cake you may prefer to serve it with a slightly sweet chocolate sauce and if this is the case then we would suggest trying the chocolate sauce from the Chocolate Pudding For Christmas Pudding Haters With Hot Chocolate Sauce.
However if you like a slight bitterness then you may want to dry a darker chocolate sauce and we would suggest trying the sauce from Nigella's Meringue Gelato Cake With Chocolate Sauce. There is also the sauce from Flourless Brownies With Hot Chocolate Sauce which is slightly stronger as it contains espresso powder. Please note that all of these sauces become solid when cold so need to be served warm or at room temperature. If you are serving the cake as a dessert you may prefer to serve it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream rather than the cream cheese frosting.
