Soft White Dinner Rolls

Full question
Can I use the dough for the Soft White Dinner Rolls to make a classic loaf?
Our answer
Nigella's Soft White Dinner Rolls (from Feast and on the Nigella website) are made with a slightly enriched dough that contains milk and a little butter. The dough is fairly straightforward and could be used to make a white loaf rather than rolls. As the dough contains 500g (3 1/2 cups) flour then it would be best to use what would be termed a 2lb/900g loaf pan - one with dimensions of approximately 23 x 13 x 7 cm (9 x 5 1/2 x 3 inches). The remaining approx. 100g flour is used for dusting a work surface when kneading the dough. Grease the loaf pan with some flavourless vegetable oil before using.
Once the dough has had its first rise then instead of shaping it into rolls you will need to form it into a sausage shape that will fit into the tin. Cover the tin with a clean, damp tea towel and leave to prove in a warm place until doubled in size (this may take longer than the rolls but start checking after 30 minutes). Glaze with the egg wash and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. The loaf is done when it sounds hollow if you gently tap the base of the loaf.
