I really needed to do something fun this month after biopsy yesterday, my father-in-law's funeral the week before and recovering from 'flu and a tooth out the week before that. I left it rather last minute and had a bit of trouble getting the chickens to stand up (the cake stand was a bit wonky!) so improvised with some cocktail sticks I haven't used since the 1970s!! How you stay so gorgeous in the kitchen I don't know, Nigella, but just as well I only had to photograph this cake and not myself spattered head to toe in chocolate icing! I cut out a pop-up card for the pink cherry blossom trees at the back and green sugar sprinkled for grass and found these wonderful chickens and Scandi hearts that I really loved.
