The golden eggs on top didn't come from these chickens but the eggs inside did! I make this cake every Easter and it's a firm favourite. I am especially grateful this year, in the current circumstances, that it happens to be a flourless recipe! The cake tin I use is a little smaller than that in the recipe, which means it grows quite tall and then shrinks in at the waist (curious that this is not the effect eating it has on your body...). I quite like this outcome, though, as I think it looks like the nest is on its own chocolate cake stand.
