Rub butter into flour, mixed with superfine sugar and baking powder. Beat the milk and egg together then stir into the dry mix to make a stiffish batter. Spread over a greased 12 by 9" baking tin and brush the surface with melted butter. Cover completely with halved stoned plums. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mix. Bake at 200C for 30-40 mins.
Introduction
A cake which is good with coffee or with ice cream as a pudding.

- 8 ounces self-rising flour
- 3 ounces butter
- ¼ pint milk
- 1 ounce melted butter
- 1½ pounds plums
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 ounces superfine sugar
- 1 large egg
