I love this recipe because it is a great last minute meal, can be easily reduced or multiplied for as many mouths as needed! It's also so versatile, you can add or change any bits to suit your mood or eating habits!

Ingredients

Serves: 2

Metric Cups
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 400 grams chopped tomatoes
  • olive oil
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • dried chilli flakes
  • 25 grams salami
  • fresh basil
  • spaghetti
  • 1 clove garlic

  • olive oil
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • red pepper flakes
  • 1 ounce salami
  • fresh basil
  • spaghetti

Method

Easy Peasy Spaghetti Arribiatta is a community recipe submitted by LaurenMcC and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Cook spaghetti according to pack instructions.
  • Meanwhile, put the onion in a saucepan or deep frying pan and pour in enough water to just cover the onion. Bring to the boil, then cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the lid, reduce heat, and let the remaining water evaporate. Add a dash of olive oil, garlic, and if you are adding salami, fry that for a few minutes.
  • Add the tinned tomatoes, pinch of chilli flakes, pinch of sugar, salt and pepper (to taste) and few leaves/squeeze of basil.
  • Stir it up good and then leave to cook on a low heat and reduce down while the spaghetti cooks.
  • When the spaghetti is cooked, drain and put into the pan of sauce, so that the two can be mixed through. Or if you prefer, plate up the two seperately.
