Shoo-Fly Pie

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix first 4 ingredients with pastry blender to make coarse crumbs. Save 3/4 cup for topping. Combine syrup and water. Stir into crumbs. Pour into unbaked pie crust, top with crumbs. Bake anywhere from 30-60 minutes, until cake tester comes out of the middle clean. Best cool, but lukewarm or straight from the oven aren't too shabby either!

Serves: 4
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup vegetable shortening (such as Crisco)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ cup molasses (or corn syrup, or a combination of both)
- ½ cup boiling water
- pie pastry (for 9 inch single crust pie)
