Introduction

I was watching 'Chew' in Travel and Living yesterday afternoon, Nigella made one of those delectable strawberry ice-creams, I got tempted and wanted to make a sweet delicacy by myself at home. Since I am running with high temperature, ice creams were certainly not allowed. So, I tried this recipe, which is a famous Indian sweet delicacy.

Ingredients

Serves: 4

  • 5 slices white bread
  • 10 tablespoons butter / ghee
  • 3 cups milk
  • dried fruit (to garnish)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom powder

Method

  • Cut each slices of bread in small cubes.
  • Heat the ghee in a pan. Add the bread cubes and deep fry them until light brown. Take the bread pieces out and allow it to cool.
  • Meanwhile, boil the milk with sugar and cardamom powder for about 15 minutes or until the milk becomes very thick. This is known as 'Rabri' in Hindi. Allow this to cool and refrigerate it.
  • Put a dollop of Rabri over 4-5 pieces of fried bread cube and garnish it with dry fruits, and enjoy the Indian delicacy!
  • Additional Information

You can have this any time of the day, as I do..:-) or serve it after lunch or dinner.
