Introduction

This is an old recipe from my Mother who is from the Punjab in India. Although I do not think it is exclusive to this region it is very popular and very easy to make.

Ingredients

Serves: 4-6

Metric Cups
  • 2 kilograms chicken (skinless and boneless)
  • 100 grams fresh ginger
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chilli (to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 500 grams plain yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 4⅖ pounds chicken (skinless and boneless)
  • 3½ ounces fresh gingerroot
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chile (to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 17⅔ ounces plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder

Method

Punjabi Chicken (Known to Us as Recipe Chicken) is a community recipe submitted by P.Grigio and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Mix ingredients, but not chicken together into a paste
  • Marinade chicken over night
  • Place in 180 c oven for 1.5 hours covered with foil for first half hour.
  • Turn chicken and spoon mixture on top. Check chicken is properly cooked.(Obviously!)
  • Serve with Naan and rice
