Bring pearled wheat and cold water to a boil. Then reduce heat and simmer until wheat kernels burst open. If it starts looking dry, add more water. Scald poppy seeds with boiling water, then drain in sieve. Put poppy seeds, sugar, honey and hot water in food processor or blender and process until very fine. Pour into a serving bowl and add the chopped nuts. When ready to serve, add the cooled pearled wheat into the poppy seed mixture. Serve cold.
Introduction
A pearled wheat, poppy seed and honey soup which is served as the first course at a traditional Ukrainian Christmas Eve dinner.

- ⅓ cup honey
- ½ cup boiling water
- ¼ cup chopped nuts
