Introduction

I first made these in a home economics class at school and have been making them ever since. It's a basic, easy recipe, perfect for children. I often drizzle milk chocolate over the top once cooked! This is the original recipe given to me by the late Miss Cook who was my home economics teacher. I haven't altered it at all since then. Enjoy!

  • Pre-heat oven to 180 ºC/gas 4
  • Put the butter, sugar & syrup in a pan. Stir over a low heat until melted.
  • Mix in the oats Grease a 20x30 cm tin and pour in the mixture
  • Bake for 20 mins until golden brown
  • Cut into bars while warm then remove from tin when COLD.
  • Icing sugar can be sprinkled over the top and a glace cherry plonked in the centre of each slice to make Christmas flapjacks! Depending on the tin you use, consider lining it with baking/greaseproof paper as these get awfully sticky!
