Ingredients

Metric Cups
  • 200 grams crabeye beans (Borlotti beans)
  • 200 grams kidney beans
  • 30 millilitres vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder
  • 300 millilitres tomato juice
  • 60 millilitres mime juice
  • 7 ounces crabeye beans (Borlotti beans)
  • 7 ounces kidney beans
  • 1 fluid ounce vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • 11 fluid ounces tomato juice
  • 2 fluid ounces mime juice

  • Preparation:
  • Cook the Crabeye Beans and the Red Kidney Beans as directed in the cooking instructions.
  • Chop onion.
  • In a pan, heat oil.
  • Simmer onion and garlic.
  • Add ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander, cumin, chilli powder and tomato juice.
  • Stir for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the beans to the mixture.
  • Add lime juice and stir.
