Could a salted caramel layer be added to Nigella's Chocolate Cheesecake recipe? Could you tell me how I can do this?

Nigella's Chocolate Cheesecake (from FEAST) is a baked cheesecake with a rich chocolate flavour and topped with a shiny chocolate glaze. As the cheesecake is baked it is slightly difficult to add a salted caramel layer to the base of the cheesecake. If the caramel is too thin it will simply mix with the cheececake batter as the batter is spread into the springform pan and if it is too thick then the caramel will become hard and toffee-like as the cheesecake bakes.
We would instead suggest that the chocolate glaze is replaced with a salted caramel sauce and this can be drizzled over the cheesecake, with extra served on the side if you like. We would suggest trying Nigella's Salted Caramel Sauce as it is easy to make and can be made a couple of days in advance and stored in the fridge. If you chill the sauce, let it come to room temperature before you use it.
