Stir flour, salt and soda together and save. Cream shortening and sugars together. Add vanilla and egg. Beat. Add dry ingredients. Fold in nuts and chocolate into small pieces. Drop 1 teaspoon into greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 350F

- 1½ cups flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup shortening
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 medium beaten egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ¼ cup chopped nuts
- ¼ kilogram chocolate
