Date and Pecan Scones

Combine butter with all dry ingredients except dates and pecans. Add cream and mix JUST until crumbly. Add dates and pecans by hand. Pat dough into 3/4" thickness. Cut into desired shape with knife or use cookie cutters. Brush with bit of additional cream and sprinkle with more brown sugar. Bake in oven at 350F for 20-25 min or until golden.
Introduction
You can use this dough as a base for any fruit/nut combo, but my favourite is the date and pecan or dried fig and walnuts. These make a decadent breakfast, or snack. Sorry, I only have north american measurements! The recipe comes from a Toronto bakery, Wanda's Pie in the Sky.

- 1 cup cubed butter
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⅔ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2¼ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1¼ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup hopped pecan nuts
- 1 cup chopped dried dates
