Ingredients

Metric Cups
  • 250 grams rump steak (cut into thin slices)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons cornflour
  • 1 clove garlic (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3 teaspoons sugar
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 8⅚ ounces sirloin steak (cut into thin slices)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 clove garlic (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3 teaspoons sugar
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Method

  • Mix the soy, cornflour and garlic. Pour over the steak and marinate for 2 -3 hours.
  • Boil together the vinegar, sugar, water and oil in a heavy based medium-sized pot - I suggest you put on the lid as it boils wildly!
  • Turn down the heat a bit if necessary. After 10 minutes you will have about a 1/4 centimetre of liquid at the base of the pan. Add the steak carefully, all at once and stir-fry until just browned. Remove to a platter and serve with rice and extra soy. Serves 2 but can be doubled up.
